A range of services offered

Capilla en Funeraria Del Angel & Valley Memorial GardensFuneraria del Angel conducts funeral and memorial services and assists with obituaries. For those who desire cremation, we coordinate and handle all the details with our local crematorium, Heavenly Grace, while still conducting the memorial services at 1 of our 2 chapels—or a place of your choosing.

Chapel of Remembrance is a tranquil building that seats up to 175 people. The chapel has 5 stained-glass windows, a raised ceiling and flexible chair seating. It’s located in the northern side of our building and is beautifully lit by chandeliers.

Chapel of Serenity has a traditional atmosphere. Located on the south side of the funeral home, this chapel has 1 large stained-glass window and pew seating. It’s nearest to our main entrance and seats up to 150 people.

Both chapels are wheelchair accessible. Each has its own foyer and hospitality room for family and friends to gather casually. Though the chapels are non-denominational spaces, we can provide religious artifacts, such as crucifixes, for any funeral service.

History

Valley Memorial Gardens has been the final earthly resting place for Mission-area families since the early 1950s. The cemetery grounds are expansive, with main sections on either side of Taylor Road.

In the mid-1990s, we joined the Dignity Memorial® network, the largest network of funeral, cremation and cemetery providers in North America. Joining the Dignity Memorial family allowed us to make significant updates to both the funeral home and cemetery.

In 2005, Funeraria del Angel was built just north of the cemetery office. The funeral home is where we conduct our funeral and memorial services for families. We also have 4 arrangement rooms and 1 main office to meet with families in a comfortable setting.

The funeral home was remodeled in 2016. We changed the entire exterior for better aesthetics and expanded on the north side of the building to create a 2nd chapel. We also added a wing that allows the funeral home and cemetery teams to office in the same building.

Significant upgrades to the cemetery include 4 mausoleum complexes (the latest was finished in 2016), a variety of estates, niches and columbaria. To irrigate in the hot Texas summers, we installed a sprinkler system. Perhaps the most recognized change is the addition of charming white, ranch-style fencing around the cemetery perimeter.

Valley Memorial Gardens cemetery

Established in 1950s, Valley Memorial Gardens has served the burial needs of Rio Grande Valley families for more than half a century. Throughout the years, families have trusted us to provide exactly what they need and to honor their loved ones.

A scenic memorial park

Situated on more than 50 acres of mature trees and beautiful landscaping, the memorial park is a peaceful final resting place. The park features many individual gardens, 4 mausoleum complexes, niche walkways, private estates and much more.

We pride ourselves on providing an inviting atmosphere for our guests. The main entrance is dressed with stone for a natural feel. The entire perimeter of the cemetery is marked by white, ranch-style fencing.

We also have a section with a water fountain that’s surrounded by a stone fence and contains a huge oak tree. There are niches and columbaria along the edges.

The cemetery spans across Taylor Road. The east side is the older section of the cemetery. This side of the cemetery has an abundance of trees and a forest-like feel. The west side has a more open feel and is the location of the funeral home. This side has fewer trees overall, but more palm trees. The west side holds more open inventory.

Cemetery burial choices

The cemetery is mapped into more than 30 sections, each with a name, such as The Garden of Prayer and The Last Supper. Walkway of Remembrance is lined with cremation niches.

Our cemetery is known for being innovative and providing families alternatives to traditional burial. There are 4 phases to the Good Shepherd mausoleum and inurnment options for people who choose cremation, including cremation gardens.

Valley Memorial Gardens is known for its excellent condition. The staff is constantly surveying the grounds and looking for ways to enhance the space. We believe ongoing improvements make a clear difference and pledge to you that we will maintain comfortable, inviting grounds for years to come.

Giving back to the community

Funeraria del Angel and Valley Memorial Gardens believe in giving back to our community. We are continually looking for ways to make a difference in the Rio Grande Valley.

Funeraria del Angel donates to various organizations, including Mujeres Unidas, which provides counseling and financial assistance to abused women, and local high schools. Members of our teams participate in the McAllen Chamber of Commerce. We also participate in a variety of walk/run events to raise money and awareness for good causes.
